We have to remember that in going to each new dimension in God, we will have opposition, hence, we will have enemies along the way. Our way will be filled with those that set themselves against us, but what we must remember is that God is with us every step of the way.
It should never be a question to us as to whether or not God is looking out for us. He knows when others are putting their mouths on us. It's not our responsibility to hold them accountable for what they say or do, but to walk in love toward them as Jesus commanded us to do and let the Father handle them as He knows how. It is not our place to exact vengeance upon our enemies. God will take this responsibility on Himself.
We must take into account and remember what the Word of God says about how God will deal with our enemies. Exodus 14:10 - 29 gives us a clear account of how God will deal with our enemies when they come against us. (Key verses: 14, 19-20, 22-25)
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Make sure that you have your attitude in check. Don't complain about the enemies you come in contact with because of the place God has brought you to. (Numbers 13:25 - 33; Deuteronomy 9:4)
Other scriptures referring to enemies: Psalm 18: 3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
Romans 8:28-31 (emph. On 31) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
